Since 2018 Amir Mohamed Abdelaziz Hawas has been supervising the work of a community initiative called "The Heart is the Language" which aims to promote for health equity and help cancer patient living with hearing disability to have best services, help and care inside hospitals. His role was to learn the sign language and become a sign language trainer for volunteers and cancer hospital worker to enable them to understand and address the need of the cancer patient with disabilities.
This initiative helps to transform hospital applications and awareness information into sign language in order to provide easy doctor-patient communication. The vision of the community is to achieve health equity for all. Their work is completely on a volunteering basis seeking better health and treatment opportunities for patient with hearing disabilities.
