Polar Permaculture
Benjamin Vidmar started his project in the northernmost town in the world, Longyearbyen, and was created to produce locally grown food, compost the organic waste and to create a zero waste restaurant near the north pole. Longyearbyen had one of the highest CO2 outputs per capita in the world. After the project, the local government was seeking to set up a circular economy based around energy production, food production and waste management. Mr. Vidmar and his team of volunteers changed the whole course of the town. Now he focuses more on education and setting up projects in other locations.
